Harald Szeemann (1933-2005)
Szeemann curated more than 200 exhibitions in his career, including Documenta 5 (1972), Documenta 6 (1977, co-curated), and the Venice Biennale in 1999 and 2001. His archive, the Forschungsarchiv fur Zeitgenossische Kunst, contains 25,000 files on artists and was acquired by the Getty Research Institute in 2015. Okwui Enwezor (1963-2019)
Enwezor was a Nigerian-born curator who transformed the biennial model.
